A) Installing Ringtone Expressions

You can start learning how to make ringtones immediately, just follow the steps below:
1) Download the Ringtone Expressions Software here.
2) Install it on your PC.
3) Launch the software after installing.
4) Under the "My Phone" heading on the top left of the application, click on the text "Standard Cellphone" or the name of your phone if you have already changed it, and then click on "Change Phone".
5) If you have not done so already, you will be asked to sign in to your account. You can create a free trial account by clicking on the "Sign Up Here" button in the Sign in Screen. Once you complete the Sign up form you should be able to Sign in with your new account. Once signed in you should see the Change Phone screen.
6) In the "Change Phone", you should see a list (the one of the left most part of the screen) of cellphone manufacturers and providers. Find the one corresponding to your phone and click on it.
7) In the next list, you should now see a list of devices corresponding to your manufacturer. Here you can select your specific phone that you want to use. If you cannot find your phone, please the note below after step 10. 8) If required, you can change your phone number.
9) Finally, click on "Select This Phone".

NOTE: If you cannot find your specific phone, you have two options. 1) If you know your phone is compatible (for example has the same system as one you know and saw in the list of devices), you can select that one and continue the guide above.
2) If your phone is not listed, but you know that your phone supports custom ringtones, you can simply click on the "My Phone Is Not Listed" link under the lists. Then, on the ringht side of the screen you will see a short list of generic phones that you can use. Select one of these and enter a custom name in the box provided. After selecting a generic phone, you can select that one and continue the guide above.


B) Making Ringtones from mp3/WAV/OGG files.

This may be the most common way that you may use Ringtone Expressions if you want to make ringtones from your existing music collection. Follow the guide below, you will see exactly how to create ringtones using Ringtone Expressions and you will have a favorite ringtone on your phone in just a couple of minutes:

1) If you have not done so already, open Ringtone Expressions.
2) In Ringtone Expressions, you have several ways of opening mp3 files.
(You can also open Wav and Ogg files directly if you have such files in your collection). The most common ways are:
-The easiest way to open a music file is to simply drag and drop it on Ringtone Expressions.
-You can also find the song file in your computer with Windows Explorer, and then right click on it. In the right click menu you should see a menu item called "Create a ringtone with Ringtone Expressions".
Click on that and Ringtone Expressions Will open your file. -You can drag and drop a file from iTunes to Ringtone Expressions.
-In Ringtone Expressions you can click on the side links on the left, "My Music Folder" or "Browse Computer" to open any sound file you want.
3) After you have loaded your sound file or song inside Ringtone Expressions, you will see a bar with a playable region as shown in the picture below.


To select where your ringtone will start and stop. If this is your first time doing this, play around with these controls to get a feel on how to use them.
4) You can, at any time, preview your ringtone by clicking on the Preview button.
5) Repeat steps 4 and 5, until you are happy with the sound of the ringtone. When happy proceed to step 6.
6) When happy, click on the "Create Ringtone" button. This will create the ringtone and bring up a new window, that is the sending to phone screen. In the screen, you will see either one or two choices, depending on what phone you have. Generally speaking you have either both or one of the following choices for sending your newly created ringtone to your phone:
- Send to your phone directly (if you have connected it to your computer by cable)
- Send to your phone via an SMS Text message
- Send to your phone via iTunes. (This choice is for iPhones only)
NOTE: In the send to phone screen, there is also a check box at the bottom called "Send to my Social Sites". If you enable this option, after sending your ringtone to your phone, you will be given a chance to express this ringtone to your Twitter and/or Facebook account.
7) When you have decided how you want to send your ringtone to your phone, click the relevant button. (In some cases you will have only one button showing here, so in that case, for you there is no choice)
8) Just before sending your ringtone, you will be asked to give it a name. Ringtone Expressions does a good job of choosing a name if it finds the information in your song file, but if you want to change the ringtone name, it is done at this point. Once clicked and accepted the new name, the ringtone will be sent to your phone.
9) Depending on how you have chosen to send your ringtone to your phone, one of the following things will happen:
- If you sent it by SMS, you should get a message on your phone, containing a link to your ringtone.
- If you have send it directly, then your ringtone is already on your phone, all you have to do is use your phones settings to assign the ringtone.
- For iPhones only, your ringtone should have been sent to iTunes.
all you have to do now, is to simply sync your phone with itunes and your new ringtone will be transferred to your iPhone. 10) Done! How easy was that? Now you know how to make a ringtone for your phone! Was that not easy and super quick?


C) Creating Ringtones from various other sources.

If you have completed the guides above, you can try and get a bit more adventurous with your ringtones. This guide will get you started and teach you how to make ringtones from sources other than your mp3 file collection. Here goes:

To make ringtones from sources other than mp3 or other sound files, instead of opening a file inside Ringtone Expressions, go to the left of the main screen of Ringtone Expressions, and click on "More...". Here you will see 3 different ways to make even more ringtones: YouTube, Website and Microphone. The process of creating a ringtone from these sources, is different only up to the point where you have recorded your selected sound source. once you have a YouTue, Website or Microphone recorded sound inside ringtone expressions, the steps to make a ringtone are exactly the same. so all you really need to know, is for each case, how to record your source.

Making a ringtone from youtube.


1) As mentioned above, simply click on More... -> YouTube.
2) You should see a new window open now, that looks a bit like a browser. Also you will see that it opens the YouTube homepage.
3) Browse to your video that you want to record from, by either typing or pasting its address in the address bar, or looking around in YouTube. 4) Once you have found a video that you want to record from, make sure the video is not playing yet.
5) Click on the "Start Recording" button on the top of the window and then click play on the YouTube video. Ringtone Expressios will then start recording the sound played.
6) When you are happy and have finished recording, You can click on "Stop Recording" and then on "Finish". Note, that you do not have to watch the whole YouTube video to finish the recording. If you have recorded enough, and you are happy, then you may click on Stop Recording and Finish at any time.
7) One you click on Finish, the sound has been recorded, and it has been loaded in Ringtone Expressions. From here on you can just follow the standard way of making a ringtone as shown the previous guide on how to make a ringtone.

NOTE: As you get more familiar with this feature you will find that it is possible to press on the record button even before you browse to your desired media page. Also you can browse to multiple ones and record sounds from various videos by simply changing page while still recording. However we suggest that you get familiar with the software and play around a bit before you try this.

Making a ringtone from a website.

This way is very similar to YouTube, however, it is different in that it provides a more general way of recording for just about any Flash Based sound on any website. Examples of this, are google video, metacafe, vimeo, custom flash players etc. etc.

1) As mentioned above, simply click on More... -> Website with Music.
2) You should see a new window open now, that looks a bit like a browser.
3) Browse to your video that you want to record from, by either typing or pasting its address in the address bar, or looking around on the Internet for the sound that you want to use for a ringtone. If you find one, make sure that it is playable directly in the browser, and also that it is not played in Quicktime or Windows media player, as we only support flash at the moment.
4) Once you have found a video or music player that you want to record from, make sure the video is not playing yet.
5) Click on the "Start Recording" button on the top of the window and then click play on the media player in the site you are recording from. Ringtone Expressions will then start recording the sound played.
6) When you are happy and have finished recording, You can click on "Stop Recording" and then on "Finish". Note, that you do not have to watch the whole video or song to finish the recording. Recording fro the Microphone.

Before you continue, make sure that you actually have a microphone on your computer. If you do not have a microphone, your can either buy one or depending on your specific hardware you may have to get professional advice on how to attach a microphone to your PC. We are basing this tutorial on the assumption that you have a working microphone or other recording source connected with your computer, or that your computer has a built in microphone, that you know to be in working order (For example you have used it in other applications such as audio conference software).

1) As mentioned above, simply click on More... -> From Microphone or Line-in.
2) You should see a new window open now, that allows you to select an input source. You make have one source or several. Select the appropriate one for your recording source.
3) When you are ready to record, simply press on "Start Recording" and the recording will start.
4) When you are happy and have finished recording, You can click on "Stop Recording" and then on "Finish".
5) One you click on Finish, the sound has been recorded, and it has been loaded in Ringtone Expressions. From here on you can just follow the standard way of making a ringtone as shown the previous guide on how to make a ringtone.
